Our History

Nestled inside a charming 10,000-square-foot Victorian home in Hornell, Cozy Cats n’ Kittens has been a safe haven for felines since 2019. Founded by Elizabeth Oliver, what began as a small effort to help local cats quickly grew—especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the need for rescue support surged across the region.

We are dedicated to easing the suffering caused by cat overpopulation. Our primary mission is to vaccinate and spay or neuter stray and abandoned cats and kittens, helping to reduce future generations of unwanted litters. When possible, we also take in the kittens from litters, work on socializing them, provide them with vet care, and find them loving adoptive homes!

At any given time, our rescue cares for 47 to 70 cats, supported by a small but mighty team of 6–8 foster parents and numerous dedicated volunteers. One of our most cherished spaces is the Leukemia Room, where cats living with feline leukemia are given the comfort, care, and companionship they deserve.

Our commitment goes beyond rescue—we strive to match every cat with a safe, nurturing home through a thoughtful and thorough adoption process. We rely on community support through donations, word of mouth, our Amazon Wish List, and proceeds from Old Town Antiques—every bit of which directly benefits the cats in our care.
